- Shotokan Karate: Shotokan "Karate- do," which translates loosely to "the way of the empty hand," focuses on self-improvement, rather than competition... both in and out of the dojo.
- Judo and Japanese Jujitsu: Judo is a modern martial practice with its roots in the traditional. Classes teach standup techniques as well as traditional Japanese jujitsu ground work.
- Kendo: It is a centuries’ old Japanese sword art that has evolved into a competitive sport. Bamboo swords have replaced the Samurai blades. Traditional style head and body armor are still worn by modern Kendo practitioners.
- Aikido: Shodokan introduced the art of Aikido to the North Shore in 1964. Aikido is a martial art in which the preservation of one’s attacker is equally important as one’s own self defense.
- Arnis: Arnis, sometimes called Escrima or Kali, is an eclectic martial art from the Philippines. We teach techniques involving sticks, knives, joint locks, and empty hands.
